The medical/anatomical term for the genital organs is “pudendum.” A Latin word meaning “something to be ashamed of.”
Oh my. This may be a word assigned in the 1300s, but the medical world still has a lot of work to do when it comes to sexuality and health.

At least you got the word vulva which is neutral. In Poland the medical term for this part is “srom” which translates “shame” in old Polish and looks and sounds similar to “sram” – “I shit”.
The words alone explains why we still struggle seeing beauty in our bodies… thanks for sharing that wildest. xo
Oh my indeed. I thought the invasion of the medical profession and science into our sex lives was a fairly relative phenomenon, medicalising sex, but seems it’s been going on for centuries.
OMG Kate… if you look up books on medicine, religion and history… the real history of medicine unfolds. It’s pretty scary.
