Nude Woman Exposed | photo by Charles Gatewood 1971
April 24, 2012 § Leave a Comment
This stunning photo was a gift to me from Charles Gatewood for some writing work I did for him. I lent it for a time to the Museum of Sex in NYC and it was included in the Sex in NYC exhibit. Now I am finding it does not fit my collection at home. So I’m selling it on ebay with a low starting bid! (It’s behind an adult filter so you must login to bid.)
A description of the photo (and the story behind it) can be found here. It is It is 11×14″ or 16×20 with the white boarder. Though this print is in perfect condition, with no marks or damage. They are selling that one $1800.
Please feel free to ask me any questions. I’m happy to answer them.

A new film! The true story of the world’s greatest pin-up, nude and fetish model, told in her own words. A provocative expose about Bettie Page’s on camera joie de vivre blasting past 1950s censorship efforts. And best of all, made with Bettie Page’s authorization.
Free Art Show… all the faded back room glamour of a bordello
April 9, 2012 § Leave a Comment
Brooklyn, NY
In the context of this exhibition, the title infers a wink toward the timeless relationship between the erotic and commerce, a mainstay of the exhibition venue. Jo Wilmot’s paintings are a naughty expression regarding the history of decadence as well as the ribbald nature with which society treats the subject of intimacy and sensuality. Utilizing his background in retail visual merchandising and creative window design for global brands such as Selfridges and L’Occitane, Darren Jones will create a glittering window story that evokes the romance and faded back room glamor of bordello aesthetics.

Student Surpasses the Teacher

It must have been about 10 years ago, in a little bar in Brooklyn, that Peekaboo Pointe showed up for my burlesque workshop. She was already a dancer, was packed with talent and had a burning desire to break into burlesque. Now she’s a legend and a teacher at The New York School of Burlesque. And her classes look amazing. What a bad ass.
Weird High Heels

I love strange and extreme heels. They are just one of the many ways a woman can vary her presentation. They can make you weak, make you powerful or sometimes simply be entertaining. But this gallery and this gallery of weird high heels are beyond what even I can wear!
I think my favorite are the heels with embedded beer bottle opener. Appeals to both the beer and heel lover in me! Low brow high heels, for sure.
Speaking of which, my next shoe shopping trip is happening here. Cute, classic stripper shoes that go and go.

Le Crazy Horse: Nude Dancing Girls of Paris
January 19, 2012 § 2 Comments
The ladies are nude, so no one is allowed to take photos in the theater. All I could capture for you was this picture of Crazy Horse toilet and my toes. I’m classy, huh?
Le Crazy Horse has been producing burlesque since 1951. In their own words, they are, “…the most avant-garde cabaret in Paris celebrating the beauty, raw talent and personality of the sensual dancers in an unimitable, sophisticated and glamourous way.” The last time I was in Paris I had to go.
Lucky for me, I went on a quiet evening. There were only a few enraptured audience members to speak of. Me, my date and some Japanese men, traveling on business.
There is a documentary about Le Crazy Horse that premiered yesterday in New York City. I was lucky to be in the very first showing. The film is packed with stunning cinematography, portions of the stage show and lots of behind the scenes footage. the film shares just how much care goes into each production, the costume design, the auditions, the arguments, the long days and hard work of everyone involved.
At 2 hours and 20 minutes, the film is exhaustive. You feel both the beauty of the show but also the pain of producing it. But thank goodness they do. There is nothing in the world like Le Crazy Horse.
And on a side note, I just read that shoe designer Christian Louboutin has been doing design work for the show. Just one of many interesting minds they have pulled into the fold over the years.
