North Brother Island

Great article and some nice photos of North Brother Island, an old quarantine zone in the Bronx that has been abandoned. Hospital rooms still somewhat intact. Piles of abandoned books. A theater rots. I have the urge to lace up my boots and go exploring at this very moment. Read more.

§ One Response to North Brother Island

I’m appalled at the waste! Obviously not safe for the public, but the architectural pieces alone are worth salvaging. (I want the railing on that switchback staircase!) The island itself carries an awful lot of psychic weight. So the island is probably well haunted, too. It would make a lovely park/museum if it was cared for.
